lol, so saratoga, santa clara, cupertino, campbell are not even options. or the evergreen area of San Jose or Willow glen, Cambrian, or rose garden areas?

Man even the worse parts of San Jose are minimum $500K for a beat up single family detached home. Even people with "decent" paying jobs can't afford to buy there.

In the Bay Area, you need a "RICH" income to live a middle class lifestyle and neighborhood. and a REALLY RICH income to live in the best parts. Middle Class income gets you into the lower class areas.

Where did I say those places are not options? But they are not my choice. Los Gatos has a pretty downtown and some parts of Los Gatos are walkable.
However, you can suggest any areas you want, I personally wouldn't like to live there. Simple.

I see plenty of houses in the $2M range in Los Gatos. Condos or smaller homes, even less.

I also recommend Los Gatos. My wife and I lived in downtown Los Gatos for 3 years and liked it very much. We also have lived in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and Livermore. Los Gatos definitely has a very nice walkable downtown.

Why don't you move elsewhere?

I am not rich. I was a very well compensated techie that took advantage of the opportunities to make a lot more money in SV.

I live between El Camino and Cuesta Avenue in Mountain View. People always say it's walkable if you live in oldtown Mountain View, but I find our area totally walkable. We can walk to 5 supermarkets, pharmacies, library, banks, post office, restaurants, vet, doctor's office and the hospital. We walk to most places here.
