Google has just gone live with a new addition to their Live Traffic service. You can access it on maps.google.com, type in your location and then click on the Traffic button. New highways added to the service include:

Hwy 17 (Santa Cruz to Los Gatos)
Hwy 9 (Santa Cruz to Los Gatos)
Hwy 152 (Watsonville to Gilroy to Los Banos)
Hwy 82/Monterey Rd (San Jose to Santa Clara)
Alum Rock Ave (between 101 and 680)
Lawrence Expwy (Saratoga to Sunnyvale)
Hwy 84/Woodside Rd (Redwood City to Woodside)
Hwy 237/Calaveras Blvd section (Milpitas)
Hwy 84/Bayfront Expwy (Marsh Rd and Willow Rd approaches to Dumbarton Bridge)
Hwy 238/Mission Rd/E 14th St (Fremont to Oakland)

Strangely, El Camino Real is not in the update, and no Capitol Expwy either, but Hwy 17 alone is huge.

Pretty much essential for those who dare to make this their daily commute. You find that quite often (comparitively) the road is simply a no-go. Not going home for awhile. You get used to the idea of hanging out in Los Gatos waiting for 17 to get cleared up.

It has always been a rather amazing thing, all the people that have had access to so many traffic reports who commute on 17, never listen to them, get stuck in parking lot traffic, scream bloody murder. I'd rather detour to Pedro's or Double D's and get appetizers. Too bad the Cats closed.
