Can someone possibly tell me WHY I am unable to sell some things that I list for sale locally?
I try to sell t shirts, sports team stuff and no bites. I am curious as to know why yet when I list DVD's, I get replies quickly and even sold them. Do people not like to buy sportswear or something? I mean with the transplants here from other cities, I would think they would go by now. I keep lowering the price too. I wonder whats going on and why I can't get any inquirees?
I list in Sarasota area sometimes and well....nothing.
I sell things like NBA team apparel used and in good condition, other types of T shirts, even dress shirts I don't use and I try to price them reasonable. I just want to know if some ran into this problem. I also had trouble selling a Ric Flair set with his DVD collection AND his book. I tried selling an Alf collectors set.. no bites either.
Big DVD collections usually draw people, but thats it. Economy buys maybe? Stuff in bulk for less?

Hmm...not sure. We buy lots of stuff from Craigslist. From Skim boards to bikes to appliances. All I can say is make sure you have really good photos, make sure you have an intriguing/descriptive title. If it's boring then no one will click on it. Make sure the description is good. And try it in different categories. Also make sure the price is competitive. People cruise CL for deals and if it's not a deal you won't get any bites.

Good luck!

Im going to say people want you to GIVE them away. From my experience selling on Craigs list, in the paper, and having multiple garage sales--people dont want to pay reasonable prices. I guess they think if youre selling, youre hard up for money. Not the case for many! People dont want to pay squat, they want hand outs.. maybe its just a sign of the economy. I feel your frustration. I tried selling a number of really great items, for dirt cheap--Good luck..

I mean things like a never worn Boston Red Sox jersey not worn with the tags off. A Grant Hill jersey I washed maybe 2 times. I packaged that with a used Detroit Pistons T shirt and asked 18. I thought that was a damn price and still, no bites. Who these moochers think they are??
I sold a Beatles set for 50, but dropped it to 35. One person is interested, but shes trying to save some money for it so.. that one may take awhile.
That one included a used Let it be T shirt, a frame picture 16X14 of the Beatles, 2 pictures with 1 of Harrison and McCartney. 1967-1970 collectors set BARELY USED. 1962-1966. I clearly have good stuff and I feel people just want it all for nothing. The bulk of my stuff is used and in good condition that I sell. I don't look to rip anyone off so its an insult to me when I feel theres lots of lowballers around.
I have an Alf collectors set, I gotta compare prices more, but I am pretty sure I asked a good price for that too. I might sell my guitar soon too with intentions of buying an acoustic. If anyone wants to trade a decent acoustic for my Hondo electric with extra cash, let me know. I will add 25-30 dollars to the guitar I'm selling to upgrade to an acoustic since I don't have an amp and really don't have any use for an electric. I can't find guitars for 70 dollars really and pawn shops seem to charge more. I look for good deals too.
I have a Cat in the Hat BARELY USED t shirt as well incase someone wants it who might be young in their mind and likes Dr Seuss or whatever.
I got some good stuff I want to unload and I don't wanna go through Ebay or Paypal since theres all kinds of fraud. This is why I do craigslist to begin with. Paypal plays dirty and takes their sellers money and stuff so this is one of the few alternatives I have really.

ONLY MY OPINION - But I personally would be very reluctant to buy Clothing on Craigslist. Or anywhere for that matter for Used clothing. As for memorabilia stuff, I think many people would be skeptical that it is authentic.
Also, it seems to me that people in Sarasota are on the whole LESS interested in SPORTS memorabilia than in many other areas.
Plus, in the current economy, many people are sticking to necessities, not spending money on memorabilia.

Maybe its because your using this blazing red text that is very hard on the eyes and not at all pleasant to look at all kidding aside, sports team stuff, and any type of collectables, are not nearly as desireable as they were a few years ago, believe me I had plenty of items to unload before moving down last year and practically had to give them away! Good Luck anyway!

You might try eBay. There are a lot of clothes on there, and my sister buys and sells quite a bit of stuff on there with 4 girls.

I've been selling vintage clothing on ebay for 10 years.

I agree 100% with beachbum. Collector's items are a thing of the past. Are there still a small % of people that collect, sure and there always will be, but it's a very small %. "Items" don't hold monetary value like they used to. Look at baseball cards, printed plates, or even Thomas Kinkade paintings. None of them are worth much these days (unless of course it is a VERY rare original).

I don't know what kind of "fraud" you mean, but you're not going to sell that stuff on Craigslist, you need to be on EBay, where you will have virtually NO trouble whatsoever selling anything of value at a reasonable price.

Take the time and post that stuff on EBay.
