Kidding (mostly). I just don't think a number even remotely LIKE $100K is going to be seen where you're talking about, and, if it is, I would assume it would be tiny and pretty shabby.

Now, if she had said $175K, it's a different conversation.
Rushmore, Ladywithafan quoted $150,000 for Citrus Square hardly a "Paris" price...

I did say in my previous posts it's a lot more expensive in general, but you never know, they may find it worth it, that's all. It doesn't hurt or cost anything to look.

Just checked a realtor website and found quite a few under $150,000 and some under $100,000, many of them nice. There is an ideal one on Orange Ave, in the middle of everything. Can't post the link here, but easy enough to Google.

I understand all that, thanks. We will spend time downtown and allow ourselves to be seduced, but will look long and hard before we spend $200K, since as I said elsewhere we already have two households to maintain, and we won't be spending more than 4-5 months there, tops. And yes, if I could afford an apartment in Paris, I'd probably choose a place in the Bahamas, or the Virgin Islands!

TRosa, sounds like you've got yourself a sweet situation! (there, a smiley!)

Hmmm......re: Gulf Gate...IMO, the walkability is good; if you like bars. It's nice to have BB&B, Marshall's, Old Navy & Ross close but even they can get boring after awhile. Proximity to SK is excellent. Ability to hop a bus, excellent as well....

re: downtown...If you're going to spend $100K win, lose or draw (not sure if they're cash buyer or going to mtg it, it's always worth checking out what that xtra would cost built into a mtg....expecially at the interest rate being around 4%. But then there's condo fees/utilities/etc...so everything has to be taken into consideration.

I think the original poster was into "funky"...so shabby chic in the heart of town might be the ticket.

We definitely like bars (although I hardly drink any more.)

And shabby chic is definitely a good thing. No mortgage involved in this. Maintenance costs, taxes, upkeep are definitely important.

Just in case, I thought you mentioned something about looking into that area as well. Might have been someone else.

Thanks, if we had more time we might, although it's awfully far north. We have friends are are really into bluegrass music, and that's where they go--he plays dobro and they spend all their time going to listen to music I think. But I'd like a part of Florida that's a bit less likely to freeze!

Yikes! But it won't freeze! I've been in Daytona when it froze, and it's not pretty. And that's the low, not the day's high at least.
