This isn't a exactly a place for a meal but I thought it deserves a mention. ABBE"S DONUTS in North Port(13625 Tamiami Trl) When we lived in Pinellas county the best place to get big, fresh quality donuts was Elmos. He closed shop many yrs ago and I thought his donuts were gone for good. Then one day my husband stopped to mail a letter at a strip mall in NP and low and behold he sees this donut shop. When he brought some home I couldn't believe what I was tasting, it was a blast from the past. Abbe ,we came to find out , was Elmos niece and she is usung his original recipes. Much, much better than Dunkin Donuts, larger, fresher and cheaper!. It was so nice to find a fond memory alive and well right here in North Port.
