An article in the online Herald today about Yummy House (originally from Tampa) opening a location on the north trail. I saw the sign on it just the other day. I have never been to Yummy House in Tampa, but it has GREAT reviews on the web about the food, which is supposed to be very authentic; for those of you who have been craving the real deal. The article from today:

Here is the website for Yummy House in Tampa:

This is VERY promising. I know better than to get my hopes up, but I cannot tell you how exciting REAL Chinese food is to us.

Even the salt and pepper tofu dish looks pretty solid.

Fingers and toes crossed.

Could it be? I would be over the moon. Chinese food has gone from our rotation since moving to FL. I am also crossing all fingers.

We visited Gateway to India when we were visiting Sarasota 2 weekends ago, and it was truly one of the best meals I've ever had - certainly the best Indian food we've ever had.

We even went back for the buffet, expecting the fresh stuff to be rotated out in favor of "Utility Indian" as is the case with the buffets we've visited previously. Not so - amazing quality and freshness of flavor.

The manager mentioned that they're opening a new location in Bradenton.

I hope they have a "no-MSG" section on their menu.

China, India...whatever.

Yeesh. Does anyone have any FIRST HAND experience with Yummy House?

I can barely contain my excitement.

Yes, my "speaking of new restaurant locations"-transition to the cuisine of Southwestern Asia was clumsy... apologies, Rush.

The food is righteous, though.

Anyway - the Google machine is showing two different Yummy House restuarants in Tampa. One self described "bistro" and the other "no frills Cantonese." Two separate websites, as well...

At the risk of sounding ridiculous in front of the locals, are they related? The same? Totally different?

Which is opening the branch close to Sarasota?

It is all the same owner. The "no frills" one in Tampa is the original. I drove by the new Yummy House yesterday, and thought it looked like they might be open, and there is one review on Yelp, probably from a staff member or something, saying it is open. So maybe an adventurous soul might call or visit. I might try to get down there in the next week or two since it is not too far from my house.

Being extremely picky about Chinese, best I've found so far was Ping's over in the Publix plaza @ Fruitville & Honore.
