Seems like such an easy job makes me wish I was one. She actually said when I left that I could also send her a picture of any bumps that I ever notice instead of making the trip in. Telemedicine has become pretty popular since the pandemic. The derm who performed my mohs surgery and is a professor at harvard medical might be. Plastic surgeons probably make a lot too.

My cousin is a radiologist and he does well, probably makes like 400k and he’s in his 50s. I won’t ever be making close to what he makes but really his salary seems to be becoming pretty ordinary in certain parts of the country.

I sucked at math and science. Seems like the world is made for people who excel at math and science these days.
Telemed is BS IMO.

I pay a lot for health insurance and copays. Seems like an excuse for doctors to squeeze more patients in and sit back and make more. When I have a problem I want to see them in person. I'm paying good money.

Those jobs are still not easy. Dermatologist takes skill. Removing a mole, cutting into skin and such I just don't want any yahoo doing.

I think there is also the narcissist, prestige factor in being a medical doctor as well, especially being a specialist. Some of them have huge complexes lol.

Ears Nose and Throat is another high paying one. My area we have a big time shortage of them. I see one and it's a pain to get into one.

Yes a derm who does surgeries seems different than a derm who does a skin check. Im not saying a skin check is nothing, you have to know what to look for but it's not surgery.

I think you have to really want to be a dr if you're going to become one. It seems like a lot of work applying to med schools, going to med school, doing residencies, internships and it takes a while to make money. I do have respect for physicians.

I work at a medical school and I sometimes wonder if many people in the US are even becoming drs these days. I'll have to look into the stats. But if you can make 170k right out of school in a tech job (someone on another forum said their kid is getting a job making that much when they graduate this spring) I certainly wouldn't bother with law school or med school.

Also, the competition for a 6 figure job just out of college might be quite high too. At least being a doctor once you're qualified you can get a job anywhere you want to live. No matter if it's FL or HI they need doctors, especially specialist.

One great thing about the medical field is that it's recession proof. Granted the specialty fields like dermatology might take a hit in a bad economy because people might not pay for cosmetic stuff but you will always have an income.

You won't have to worry about being laid off if you're a neurologist like you would working in a tech job and they downsize and then you gotta apply again at another company.

Another cheaper option is being a doctor at the VA to start off your career. I notice their pay is a lot lower than being on your own or at a hospital, BUT all your expenses are covered and good federal bennies.

The VA my dad went to locally had a hell of a time keeping doctors and always needs them. The problem is they move here and their family gets bored right away of the area and wants to move to a bigger, younger metro area.

The big potential pitfall I see with the medical industry is if or when we end up with socialized medicine. At that point you will basically be a gov't employee and I can guarantee salaries will take a huge hit when the gov't is the one that determines your income.

Self employment is the way to go if possible. They are the real money makers. If you can build a small business into into even a $2 or $4 million dollar revenue business with decent margins you can make yourself a real nice living without the stress of a corporate job where you might be managing 500+ people to make the same amount of money.

Neal Windward is now 832990, up from 717900 to start the year.
The above was last week.

Exactly one week later, and Grand Park is now 829990, and Windward is now 847990.
Grand Park up 40,000 in one week.
Windward up 15,000 in one week.

Grand Park Kiawah ended last year at 694990, so it is up 135,000 so far this year.
Windward Kiawah ended last year at 717990, so it is up 130,000 so far this year.

It appears that most builders in Sarasota, both national and regional, have accelerated their price increases in 2022.

Zillow's most recent report is for January 2022. Of the 100 top markets in the US, the three with fastest growing values are Austin, Ft. Meyers and Sarasota. https://www.zillow.com/research/janu...-report-30669/

If value means the monetary worth of something, which is how Webster defines it, then plainly Zillow is right.

If value means your subjective opinion of worth, then every opinion is right - including yours.

Zillow probably should have used the term "intrinsic value." Supporting "intrinsic value" is the cost of replacement and the fact that Sarasota also has one of the three fastest growing rental markets.

Shecky, and I hopefully do not offend you by calling you Shecky (I have seen others use that name for you), I am curious. LilliesOfTheFields is obviously a recent user name you created. It is plainly one of many user names you use. Why do you use so many user names and post in just about every Florida forum? People make fun of you for it, but perhaps there is a solid reason.

I hate these internet type trolls.

Anyway, I guess I'm part of the problem since I am under contract for new construction in the Palmer Ranch area, signed late January. Prices at these points didn't bother me as long as I didn't have to get into a bidding war/frenzie, which I didn't. I'm happy with my decision and I do realize it will take probably the rest of the year to get it built, so be it. I'm not in that 1mm dollar range, thank god, so when we started looking until we were "allowed" to sign price increases were not anywhere near the levels described in this thread.

"Shecky" is the first known C-D name this person used way back when, before he/she started splintering off into imaginary friend zone.
