I skied all over Vermont, NY, New England, and Colorado. The coldest place was Crested Butte Colorado - at night it would get to 40 below zero! That was cold.

Smile Water temp website

Check out this website for the National Oceanic Data Center. It has current water temps for the gulf coast of Florida and other places. In their listing of beaches, Port Manatee is closest to Sarasota, but it's not always updated. If that's the case, then just know that Sarasota is between St Pete & Naples, which are consistently updated. Today it is about 73 degrees. At Easter, I suspect it will be in the upper 70's. Enjoy your trip, it's paradise here!

We were in Disney World 2 weeks ago and were laughing because we could tell right away which workers were from the south. They were the ones wearing HATS AND GLOVES. it was like 65 degrees out. lol Dh and I were in tshirts and shorts/capris, and these people were in hats and gloves. Heck, today it was 40 and I still didn't wear a coat out. But yeah, once I move I am sure I will adapt to the warm weather and be like that, but its just funny to me now.

I live in Pa. I swim in the Gulf and the Atlantic in January. No problem and actually warmer than the Jersey shore in late June.

Crested Butte ((not Crusted Butt - LOL), is in the South West Corner of the State near Gunnison Colorado. on the Western Side of the Mountains. Beautiful, and extremely cold, although during the day, with the dry air, its pretty nice usually.

Its funny because now that I live here, I can pick a tourist out just for the reasons you stated. I never realized when I was one how much I stood out.lol
