If I get a home on well water, what will it cost to have a reverse osmosis system put in? Thanks.

We just have a R/O for under the sink (the water that we drink). Many homes are sold with this. If you're looking at a whole house R/O, I think they're pretty expensive. I have heard several thousand dollars. Also get someone who knows what they're doing and make sure you understand what the system does. I've spoken to many people who have been sold systems and they do little or nothing and the company has charged them many thousand dollars. There is one company that comes to mind that is doing this. Anyway, good luck with it

Depending on your water quality, an RO may require pre-tretment such as a softener. Calcium build-up on the membrane will damage it in time much faster than on softened water.

AN RO is an excellent way to provide great drinking water...and to avoid the cost, hassle and pollution of bottled water.

A whole-house RO would be extremely costly and may even be counter-productive to plumbing fixtures and applicances.

Whole house RO doesn't make sense. I had an under sink type that worked very well. You can get a really good system for $100-$150 on ebay.

Wow! That's cheap. Normally whole house RO's run in the several thousands. Is that installed and everything?

Why do you think he is talking about a whole house RO!!?? He said a filter.

And you're right. A WH RO would cost many thousands of dollars.

the whole house filter was $118.00 installed.

If I understood him right he said he paid $118 for a whole house RO, installed. The above was cut out of his post.

Just a regular changeable,

whole house filter. Change it around every 4-6 months.

Don't you need the whole system? How does a whole house filter work? I have one for just under my sink.
