Where would be a good place to buy that has good pricing and decent mulch. I'm trying to stay away from Home Depot/ Lowes and buy by the yard and better quality and good pricing.

I thought someone would have answered by now. But a lot of people buy mulch from home depot or Lowes, and they have had some good sales lately from what I've heard.

I don't know where you are, so it is hard to recommend any particular place.

If you want to buy bulk mulch, I would call a couple landscaping companies. Many have truckloads in their yard, and will deliver it and dump it for you if you want. I re-mulch everything yearly in MD and that is what I do. Down here, a lot of people use stone instead of mulching regularly. I think stone is a good long term mulch solution, although the intial cost may be a tad higher.

Don't forget to put down a good weed barrier before you apply the mulch.

Good luck.

Default Rubber mulch

Anyone have experience with rubber mulch? Randy wants to use it to reduce the cost of annual re-mulching and because alot of mulch washes away with heavy rain. I am very skeptical about using it. Any thoughts?

Default stone mulch

i too would like to use pebbles or river rock for mulch on the flower beds of the new house but I'm concerned with the sarasota sun reflecting too much heat onto the plants. any ideas?

Home Depot did have a really good sale going on last weekend. buy one get one on red mulch. I picked up 30 bags at around a buck a piece.

Is there really a big difference with mulch? Does some last longer than other, etc.? I'm sure the rubber stuff wold last longer but with the wood-Is one better than the next?

Rubber mulch is much more expensive but lasts for many many years and supposedly keeps its color. Also, doesn't float away nearly as much as organic in heavier rains.

We've used Big Earth Landscape Supply (formerly Sarasota Wholesale Landscape Supply) with good results in the past. They're East of I-75 on Bee Ridge. Can't say how good their pricing is by the yard compared to big box stores, but it can be really nice to have it delivered for big jobs.

Actually, Home Depot is cheaper than Landscape Supply, I checked. You can get great deals there, especially when they have sales.
