I am looking for feedback on this area and its surrounding. It looks very nice from web searches. Did anyone looked or bought properties here, and why or why not?
Thanks in advance.

Very nice gated community.. very expensive community on the water in Palmetto. Palmetto itself isn't a very nice community.. infested with gangs. Riveira Dunes is right at the start of Palmetto and is located in a more elite section. It's a bit far from shopping and things but it's a great boating community due to it's proximity to the bay. It does not appear to be a very family oriented place.I don't know a whole lot more : )

Thanks Oobie, it looks like the condo price has come down quite a bit inside the gated community. This seems to be great value compare to Sarasota.
I guess one would depend on car for grocery trips living there.

While there are some sketchy areas, especially in the north east part of Palmetto (closer to Memphis on the map), I've been here 6 years and never seen any gangs roaming around.

It does have a more rural "farm town" feel to parts of it, especially with the migrant farm worker population and tomato processing plants, but moving here after 10 years in the 75th and Cortez area of Bradenton, I wish that we had done it much sooner (it's much quieter, and the traffic is much better than dealing with Cortez Rd). Of course we're out west here too, and the neighborhoods get nicer the further west (or east) you go.

You would want to do some research on those towers. Several of them were built right in the middle of the real estate bubble and opened fairly empty. I don't know if they are all in the same development or not since there are two different styles of buildings (7 towers total, 6 near the marina, and a 7th up Haben blvd), but they have been slow to fill, and even now there aren't lots of lights on in all of the buildings.

Shopping is relatively close, but it depends upon what you are looking for.
Super Walmart is on 10th and 301 about 10 blocks away, and there is a Sweet Bay about 6 or 8 blocks away on the other side of 301 on 7th st. There's also a very nice Publix at 8th Ave and 10th St.

None of these is really walkable (no sidewalks on 301), but they are all 5 -10 minutes away. For things like Sams Club or BJ's (a Costco soon?) we have to go to Sarasota, 20-30 minutes away. Whole foods is in downtown Sarasota as well, and takes us about 25-30 minutes to get there depending upon traffic.

The community there is a bit of an isolated feeling one, in that it's the only real neighborhood on Haben blvd, and other than a couple of businesses and the school, there isn't anything else to go down that street for. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, it just doesn't have an "in town" feel.

This is great info. Thanks Skunk Workz.
I believe they are now lowering the prices of those condos trying to fill them. Units are offered at similar prices in comparison to those under short sales.

I am pretty sure I recently read that some big investment company bought up a huge bunch of foreclosure units at a fire sale price and are now offering them up at some great deals. Maybe you could Google it and find an article on it, I am pretty sure it was this place I read about, I am sure it was in Palmetto. We drive by this place all the time, it looks pretty nice, and the setting is beautiful.

*sighs* Palmetto is not infested with gangs. Please stop telling people that it is.

*sighs* Riviera Dunes is 5 minutes or less to shopping of all kinds, including the Prime Outlets, multiple big name grocery stores and Walmart.

To the OP, there are many, many vacant units in this development. Some of the amenities were never put in when the "bubble" burst and construction halted.

I tried to search but nothing came up. However, it looks like about three dozens units from one building are up for sales. I guess the new buyers will be getting brand new condos at very decent prices, hopefully no CDR problems.

Ha ha, perhaps just like Skunk Workz put it in another thread, there maybe some 80 years old running around with golf clubs and people called them gangs...
I will have to take a close look at this complex and its surrounding when I get down to Fl next week.
