As a Christian, I can't understand why some Christians are so opposed to Evolution. To me Evolution doesn't disprove Creation, nor vice-versa. If God was awesome enough to create everything in 6 days, wouldn't He also be awesome (and maybe more so) if He created everything over the course of billions of years?
Evolution seems self evident. If you force a species to live under certain conditions, they eventually adapt to it even within a short timespan.

Bible believing Christians (as they like to call themselves) reject anything that contradicts what is written in the bible. If the bible says six days for creation, then it was six days for creation. That seems like a pretty consistent argument even if it's not a very compelling one.

Not all of us! A literal interpretation of the Bible does necessarily promote a young earth.
2 Peter 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
