Xanathos, you posted you graduated from MIT in another thread. I have my own startup now, but worked in IT since leaving the military 15 years ago. My experience runs from military simulations to command and control systems. I've worked for ITT, Lockheed Martin, Northrop, Booz Allen, and a little company nobody ever heard of. I had hiring authority at my last company where I developed a Homeland Security solution. What's my point?

I and nearly everyone I know would hire you on the spot based one three little letters; MIT. Well, that is unless you were asking for budget busting money. I am not alone in my thinking. Merely getting into MIT means you work hard and are smart. Those are two highly sought after qualities. You can teach a smart, hard worker anything. Normally I don't give a hoot where someone went to college or what he did in college. I value work experience more than anything. I make exceptions for select universities because they represent more than what you learned there. They represent personal qualities as well.

Anyway, just my two cents. I'll be shocked if you can't find a good job; regardless of the job market.

Ironically, I leave MIT off my resume. I found that I receive more callbacks without it than with it. I asked about it once, and was told that it gave an image that I would be too expensive.

That's not to say I avoid mentioning it in passing during an actual interview when I've got my foot in the door, but it stays off the paper.
