How does Education Hill in Redmond look? Is there places I could go to if I walk/bike/commute? House I'll share will be large but someone told me it's a middle of nowhere and I'll be in the mercy on buses....

... That area is predominantly suburban; basically for what you want, EH is "middle of nowhere". You'd definitely have to use your bike to get around.

Education Hill seems like a confusing recommendation for you. If you were 30, pregnant and wanting to buy your first home, yes! But not for an early 20 something.
The previous rec's are good: dt Kirkland, dt Bellevue, dt Redmond, etc. If you're wanting something more urban, you could try some neighborhoods in Seattle too. Tons of places there: though if you're working on the Eastside, there's the commute to worry about.
