Ah well. Just got off the phone... it was the "mediocre" news, something along the lines of we'll recycle your profile with other groups, and get back to you. Thank you RVD90277 !

ah, oh well...but all is not lost. there are many candidates who eventually get an offer this way although most candidates are L4-L6 so there are a lot more openings than L8.

Hello all!

I just found out today that I've made it to the in person interview loop for a Vendor Manager position. Just a quick question, both my phone interviews were entirely behavioral question based, should I expect any of my interviews to stray from this? Not sure if the bar raiser will bring up a major brain teaser (how many ping-pong balls can you fit in a limo or whatever) or some kind of intense math question. I've memorized the Amazon Values and spent weeks preparing examples for each example, but I'm not sure if I should be prepared to be thrown off by something completely different than my phone interviews.

Nervous!

thanks!

Hi,

I've read this whole thread over the last few weeks and it's been very helpful.

I've completed the 2 phone screens and have been invited to the on site loop. The recruiting coordinator just sent over a set of questions including what my current and expected salary is. Should I be upfront with my response or give them something more vague? I don't want to lose any leverage by divulging this information prior to the interview. Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated!

Hi RVD90277, The recruiter did get in touch with me and let me know that two teams are interested in my profile and I would be having an informational call with the teams. I want to know if I should do the onsite loop again or how does the process work?

1) I recommend that you be upfront about your current salary and desired total compensation expectations. You can give a range if you don't want to be too specific.

2) Informational calls are typically not interviews...it's the 2 teams trying to sell you to pick their team.

3) I'm not familiar with Vendor Manager interviews but it's not like they are going to ask you to code on the whiteboard so I would guess it's more or less the same as the phone interviews you have already had. I don't think brain teasers are used much (if at all) but you could always end up with the 1 interviewer who still likes them I suppose...but it's rare.

Do you have to be really technical to work for amazon? I heard they pay 6 figures right out of college and that it's mandatory 70 hour work weeks. But hell if I can make 100k+ a year, I'm game.
