I just landed a job in downtown Seattle. I have a 17 year old daughter who will be a Senior in HS this year. We have lived in the burbs for 13 years now and we want to live in the city if possible. I want to keep my rent low $1300 and under for at least 6 months.

I am willing to live close enough to downtown Seattle and bike or take train to work.

ANY ideas/advice on where to live? Where to avoid? Public schools?

In Seattle, like most places the better schools are mostly in the more expensive areas. Ballard, Magnolia, Queen Anne and actually Nathan Hale near Northgate is good. $1,300 is a little light for a 2 bedroom, but if you can stretch it a bit and spend a lot of time driving around you may find a small house or condo for $1,500-$1,700.
