My kids and I are gluten free (my daughter and I have Celiac and my son is gluten intolerant) and we're hoping there are a ton of gf options out there! Originally from the SF Bay Area, we've been living in the Charlotte, NC area for 7 years and the gf choices are sorely lacking. I know Whole Foods and Trader Joes are there, but what about in the way of restaurants and bakeries? We're hoping to live on the east side of Seattle, i.e. Redmond, Issaquah, Bellevue. Thanks!

I don't know which Portage Bay Cafe is closest to you in Seattle, but they have a good gluten free breakfast menu.

And this place, although 30-40 minutes+ from the east side, is just awesome. Worth the trip:
Haley's Corner Bakery

My son has a gluten allergy so I know how frustrating it can be for kids. Thus far I know of a few more places to recommend.

Garlic Jim's Pizza has decent GF Pizza - Several locations in Seattle
Razzi's Pizza - Seattle (this is my son's absolute favorite place)
I mentioned two pizza places off the bat because that's a hard one for kids not to eat.

I have a friend who lives in Seattle and these are the restaurants she recommended that have GF menus:

Andaluca
Ten Mercer
Boom Noodle
50 North Restaurant
Blue C
Cafe Flora in Madison Valley
Cafe Moose - Ballard
Volterra - Ballard
Red Robin now has GF rolls for burgers

If you want to purchase items like bread, cookies, etc. Katz is great. Their quality is excellent but a little pricey. They are located on 2818 E. Madison Street, Seattle.

If you end up living in Redmond or on the east side for that matter, they just opened a Flying Apron in Redmond not too long ago on Redmond Way. I don't think you will have any problem finding GF items.

I know there's a gluten-free bakery in Monroe. Guilt-Free Goodness. Their stuff looks gorgeous.

I asked my gluten-intolerant brother-in-law to choose a place where I could buy him lunch. He chose P. F. Chang. So I think pretty much all Asian restaurants might be gluten-intolerance choices. Except maybe skip anything with won tons.

You need to be sure they have gluten free soy sauce available.
