The commute from Redmond is not bad anymore because of the toll on the 520 bridge, people are avoiding it by taking I90. The problem is that when they get going with the replacement of the bridge it will become a complete mess. We expect the I90 bridge to be tolled soon which will mean more people on 520. Back before the toll the 10 minute trip across the bridge could take close to an hour at commute times.

Is it bad on i5? I was looking at the VA hospital because I know government employees get good retirement. There's one just south of downtown Seattle and also one in Tacoma but that ones too far.

Yes, I5 is bad through Seattle already and will get much worse over the next 2-3 years as they replace the highway 99 viaduct with a new, tolled tunnel. I have heard from people that work there that the Seattle VA hospital commute is best from Mercer Island/Bellevue/Issaquah via I90 and Rainier Ave.

I remember when they closed the viaduct back in 2001(?), all the traffic averted onto i5 and through DT Seattle. Ugh, that sucks donkey crap. We have even more people now, in addition to more construction on the surface streets and the replacement of viaduct--- traffic is going to be even worse. I am glad I won't be dealing with that anymore.

Honestly, I'd suggest also checking out towards the Tacoma area, you're bound to find more housing communities down there where you can custom and at a more affordable price than the Seattle area. Even in areas like Auburn would work, they're still building and plus Auburn has a commuter train going to Seattle/Tacoma DT.

Is Seattle ever really humid? We went during June I think and it really didnt feel too humid, also it was nice and cool like I like it. Why is the crime rate so low in the area? I'm guessing that its because of the cost is living.

Yes, it's humid during the winter. Things left outside will absorb moisture from the air like crazy and you can't dry firewood outdoors over the winter in this area. It's rare to have high humidity when the temperature is above 70.
