And as for the 2nd guy...I'm living in Kent, WA and I've also lived in San Gabriel, CA (in LA county.), prior to moving here.
California is so huge and diverse it's impossible to generalize the way you are trying to do. Let's just say that half of California is more similar to Seattle than San Gabriel (in terms of how people act) - which is why your question is absurd. As Deezus said, the difference in mentality between Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Fresno, LA, Humboldt, San Bernadino is gigantic. I've lived in both the Bay Area and SoCal and they felt like different planets. I've lived in Walnut Creek and Mountain View (both within the Bay Area) and there was really big difference in how people acted as well. Heck, even SF and Oakland - 10 minutes apart - are very different.

Thank you! I've tried to get this across but it doesn't seem to sink in. To add to that, Oakland and Berkeley, which border one another are different as well. Oakland tends to be a much friendlier place overall where as Berkeley can seem rather cold in attitude at times.

I had a client from the Bay Area who said exactly the same thing. He also said that Seattle's neighborhoods reminded him most of Berkeley.

I thought the same thing when I saw Seattle's neighborhoods.

Both cities have neighborhoods that look like this.

Nice pic! This kinda reminds me of how some of the downtown Sacramento streets look with the trees covering over them

Exactly! That's what makes California so cool we have people from all over the world here plus hecka laidback although sometimes L.A. and SF can get pretty hectic at times (but what large city doesn't) but overall we're all laidback and open minded

Californians:
They have a really strong "bully on the weak" mentality. From all the jobs I've worked, some of the worst cases of work bullying I've witnessed are from Californians. Matter fact it's not really about weak, it's about whoever love peace and try to keep things civilized and avoid troubles. The targets Californians preferred are usually keep themselves to themselves, somewhat calm but also timid, do not pose threats. Some Seattlites are kind of like that too, but to a lesser extent than Californians. The only ways to deal with them are acting harder than anyone as they seem to respect nothing but whoever is the most violent or "hardest" in the group. When you do, they all act like bunch of ***** cats but they'll resort to the good old fashion snitching and nasty rumors.

Western Washingtonians/Seattlites:
While they're not as big of an ******* compares to Californians, people from that region often make me wonder "Dude, is this guy home schooled or what?". They have really low social awareness, doesn't know how to talk to people, often time they'll either ignore you when you're try to be social, or they'll try way too hard to fit in with you. They're not just anti-social, the key words are they DO NOT know how to socialize. All of these screamed out "dork" and "loser". And if they don't like you for whatever reason, they'll purposely doing things to make you uncomfortable while being nice to you at the same time.

Also both Californians and Western Washingtonians are really quick to judge a person, usually based on something stupid to be honest...either over a political debate or some stupid things the person did as a kid...I always find it difficult not to laugh at them when I ask them why they don't like a particular person. And both Californians and Western Washingtonians are quick to judge too...when they don't like you, be expected to be disrespected FOREVER. They're quick to judge and once they judged it's nearly impossible to change their opinions. Once they don't like you, there's nothing you can fix.

With all that being said, which ones you think got the most difficult personalities?
This is total nonsense. Silicon Valley is in CA and people there are way more timid than in Seattle. Places like Santa Cruz and Arcata/Eureka revolve around hippies and not being hard. I don't know where in CA you were, but what you're describing in no way, shape or form represents CA as a whole at all.

I'm a Californian who moved to Seattle about a year ago. All the friends that I've made so far are originally from Southern California like myself. My fiancee has made friends with some girls originally from the South. There is just something really strange about native Western Washingtonians from our experiences so far.

All Californians are fake, superficial idiots. All Washingtonians are socially awkward and passive-aggressive.

Sound about right?

This thread is goofy.

California has 39 million people in it. 27% of them are immigrants. No single ethnic group has more than 50% of the state's population, and California is one of the most diverse places in the world. I'm sure some percentage of them are fake, superficial idiots. Just as some percentage in Seattle are socially awkward and passive-aggressive misfit weirdos.
I'm one of those Pollyanna types. I tend to meet nice people wherever I go. Seems like people are a little more hostile behind the wheels of their cars. in LA, tailgating is more common. In Seattle, they fall asleep when the light turns green.
