Is this like astrology, but more localized? Instead of being controlled by stars, we're controlled by what city we were born in?

I'm sorry you're having social difficulties. Maybe try the Midwest or the South and let us know how they compare.

I'm a loader at FedEx. I'm 24 years old, Asian, male. My roommate is 30 years old and about to turn 31 and he fits perfectly with my description of Seattlites. Dude can't seems to grow out of that college mentality. Dude often knock on my door over little things that don't matter like "chorizo is on sale at safeway." or "did you take my bag of cheese?" (He knocked on my door at 3:30am over that bag of cheese, remind you.). He also seems trying hard to fit in, for example I listen to hip-hop/rap/rnb, and he listen to death metal, now he's trying to talk like he from ghetto and bumping raps...I was like boy you ain't lasting a minute in actual ghetto.

Also something worth to mention, I've also dated a girl from Capitol Hill in Seattle when I was 21 (She was 25 at the time.)...Smart girl. She was a nurse. She's vegan, ultra liberal...while she's not as dorky and corny as my roommate, but she has that know-it-all, "you're an animal murderer/neo-con if you smoke cigarette or eat meat." type of mentality, which is also quite prevalent in Seattle. Socially challenged and ultra liberals seem to run Pac NW, one reason why I'm thinking about moving (Currently considering North Dakota for oil boom, Vegas for cheap price and one of my buddy is moving there or New Orleans for night life and cheaper than most of the West Coast.).

Your first paragraph sounds like a lot of guys in San Diego. Not the cheese part but the rest of it. Lots of guys still in the college mindset there and lots of pointless chatter about random crap. Lot's of chuckeheads there.

The second paragraph sounds like a lot of people from Berkeley and parts of Oakland. A lot of extremism with the vegan types are abundant here and they are every bit as full of themselves.

And don't forget about LA where I lived before, and Pittsburg (I never been there before but judging from my co-worker"s behavior, I say that place is pretty much ghetto, reminds me of the transplants from Sacramento I've met.).

And as for LA...I say it's a really weird place. You got the most clueless rich folks from Santa Monica and Beverly Hills that can shun the downtown Bellevue when it comes to being "rich" (In a bad way.). On the other hands, those South LA folks and the cholos (there are sur 13 types all over LA county, I ran into some of them in San Gabriel before.)...those dudes spent too much time on being a bully and acting hard. From the Pittsburg and those Scramento transplants, I say the whole "big bad bully who start **** for no reason with anyone civilized." thing is really rampant in the ghetto parts of California.

It's funny though, I was talking with this guy on Friday at the bar, he's from South Chicago, from the ghetto too, and he's in the marines he just stationed here. He been to LA before and he told me about how LA got some of the retardest gang bangers/hustler ever...normally you sell drugs or rob a guy, you just bounce off after you get it done and try not to attract attention, not these LA guys...in LA no matters if they're cholos, crips, bloods, Asians, Samoans, they all a. fighting over races. b. not focus on money or stay low profile not to get caught. c. trying wayyyyy too hard on being a bully and humiliating their enemies. All of these made them get caught all the time. No wonder why the prison in California is so over-crowded, because they're retarded.

The only thing I can really say here is that, it doesn't seem like anywhere in Seattle gets as ghetto and bad as some parts of CA. I mean Seattle has it's places that can be compared in a relative way. You mentioned Pittsburg a couple of times. I'm in Richmond, same county and also GHETTO AS HELL! Actually more so than Pittsburg.

When comparing this element with the Seattle area, I think Seattle wind hands down for not having it as bad. As far as the other types of people Seattle shares with CA, it seems to have them represented just about as well. The thing is though, I am trying to figure out which strange types are unique to Seattle. All the descriptions so far sound like Bay Area and San Diego types. Not so much LA.

Yeah that's one thing about Seattle...people might act funny, but they're not dangerous nor pose threats in general unless you considering being annoying, socially challenged and dorky as threat. I can see why Seattle might attract more peaceful or quiet types.

Now you're mentioning about the unique type of personality of Seattlites. I say that every different neighborhoods has different persona, but generally speaking, the personality of Seattlites are: Young, college-educated, somewhat dorky and annoying, tend to be liberal, somewhat mentally immature, coming from middle or upper-middle class background, and that strange "Seattle Freeze" especially amongst females (There are guys like that too though, just more prevalent amongst the ladies. The funny thing is that if you somewhat break the "Seattle freeze", you'll find a rather socially awkward individual, it's not just "Seattle freeze". More like "Seattle frozen manure".). I've done a bit research about the cause of all these Seattle behaviors, I say that it's rather complicated and I might need to start a whole new thread about it if you're interested to discuss.

Meanwhile, all I know is I'm gonna find a second job and save up cash and get ready to bounce to either one of the places I've listed and I try to get it over with as soon as possible.

This part sounds a lot like San Diego. I wouldn't say immature though. One thing I like about both SD and Seattle is that they are young at heart which, IMO is better than acting like a crabby old person.

This part sounds like parts of the Bay Area, particularly Berkeley. There's a certain coldness to the people there and as much as I hate to admit it, I've been accused of that myself but whatever.

So the conclusion is Seattle basically is San Diego + Berkeley + San Francisco with a bit more on socially awkwardness. I guess the thing I'm discussing here is more of a west coast thing rather than Seattle.

Maybe the behaviors listed just describe general West Coast weirdness?

Yeah that's what I just said. I say that my best bet is to move away from west coast states. Came up with couple options already:

North Dakota for oil money (Oil boom is real. I heard that in Williston, ND, even McDonald workers get paid 15 bucks an hour. Not to mention logistic/warehouse/distributions which is what I been doing. And even with the living prices raising, it's still cheaper than Seattle.).

Las Vegas as one of my buddy is moving there on Monday. Las Vegas is really cheap. Not sure about the job market though but I say it depends on what you're looking for. Just have self-control around those casinos and the Vegas strip then I guess I'll be fine.

New Orleans is also good...party city, good night life, good food, 24 hour alcohol, also way cheaper than Seattle or any parts of the west coast. Even though I still want to get more info about the city as unlike the first 2 options, I don't personally know anyone who's from there/living there. That's why I posted a thread about the place in New Orleans section. With that being said, it's actually kinda good. I don't exactly have a good records around my ultra-controlling family nor the people I knew for the past 3-5 years and I don't think I'd really want them to know my whereabout.
