I'm currently living in Seattle and I love it--the atmosphere, the city core where I work, etc. But this winter I've come to realize . . . I really miss snow. I grew up in a snowy area.

Are there any close cities / towns to Seattle that get snow (like, regularly having at least an inch of snow in the winter) and still have good bus service to the center of Seattle? (I've only lived here a few years so I don't know the area that well yet.)

Also, I don't have kids so "good schools" and such are not something I'm worried about.

Snoqualmie, North Bend come to mind as being closer to the mountains but with commuter bus service to Seattle, but someone else would need to chime in regarding snowfall amounts.

I have a relative in North Bend, and actually, we get more snow in Sammamish than he does. All of the eastside hills get more snow than Seattle, the higher the elevation the better. We are at the highest point on the plateau and get snow
when two blocks away there is none, but it's still not going to be sticking more than 2-3 times a year normally. North Bend is 400' elevation and up, Sammamish is 540' and up.

... And still have good bus service to the center of Seattle? Nope.

Your best option is to find the shuttle bus service that'll take you skiing to the passes or renting a zipcar and driving out to the passes.

Wouldn't it make more sense to live somewhere that it doesn't snow and travel TO snow? Otherwise if you live where there's snow and travel to the city all you really accomplish is a hellish commute every once and a while.
