Had plans for the family to join me in Washington... the property tax situation changed all that.

There is more to life than endless appeals you may or may not win.

StealthRabbit has posted a lot on this forum on how his tax rate went through the roof on a home he built...

My understanding is there is really NO limit as to how much the Assessor can raise an individual...

In my case... someone from California paid a huge price for raw land with plans on making a killing subdividing and building spec homes... locals all thought it crazy... well it was... much of the land is subject to wetland restrictions and in the end the property went into foreclosure...

The sad part is the Assessor used this outrageous comp just justify huge increases in the neighborhood... so the damage was done.

Looks like the rate in Woodinville is around 1.5%. I'm don't know if that's high or low compared to other cities in King county.
The rate in most of King County is typically a little lower than 1.5%

Looking at 2014 compared to 2013, our assessed value went up 10%, and the tax went up 4.8%. Without detailed calculations of limits and levies that would project to an estimated increase in our tax bill next year with the new value at about an additional $665.00, or about $55/month. If when the bill comes in March or so that proves true, it's not going to put us in the poor house or even be enough to worry about trying to appeal. Much more and I'll reconsider.

I'll see what I end up owing but I believe that I'll end up having to pay about $350/month more...or around $4k/year. My appeal was mostly just me fishing for a reduction in fees. We'll see if it works.
