Could anyone tell me what the traffic is like on a typical Sunday, driving from Renton to the Magnolia area of Seattle? That is, when there's nothing special going on, sports, parades, etc.

Also, would the morning hours be any different than the afternoon or evening on a Sunday?

And what about driving from Seattle TO Renton on a Sunday, any different?

Thanks!

If there's no major event going on, it would typically be a quick drive. Google can give you that kind of estimate. Note that Magnolia is kind of a pain to get to, because you have to drive through downtown to get to it.

If there is a Seahawks game, disregard the above.

I know Google can give me information on how much 'time' it takes to drive from one to the other, but I wanted to know how the actual traffic is on Sunday .... allot less than week days? Or do people go out to shop, church, etc ... and it can be just as busy?

sunday traffic is not as bad as sat traffic, but even sundays can be a bit mind numbing....the traffic in Seattle is really 7 days a week nowadays...there is no escape imo. The region is overcrowded with too many homo sapiens period, imo.

It also depends on where in Renton you're coming from. If it's not too far south or east, it might pay to take either 99, Marginal Way, or Airport Way. But I-5 will probably be fine.

It should be fine on a Sunday, but sometimes, traffic can get bad from people coming home from vacation. I would think morning would be better. I'm not sure if Seattle to Renton is different.

I think Sunday is better than weekdays (especially during rush hour), but I could be wrong. Seattle, in general, doesn't have a lot of church goers, but a fair amount of shoppers, it seems. I don't think shopping and church goers make it just as busy.

Depends on which way the I-5 express lanes are running. I usually try to head south before 1pm and come back after that, since they run North to South in the AM. You're probably better off going to Magnolia via 509/99 if you have to travel North before the lanes switch direction.
