I may be driving back from Vancouver to Seattle over summer, and thought I'd swing over Deception pass and Whidbey. Any highlights, shorter hikes, eats, stops, notables, etc?

Deception Pass is stunning. As you take the ferry from Mukilteo to Clinton, you can take a right to Langley, very cute town. Then you can drive north to Coupeville. To the right, you will find a very charming town that was used in the movie Practical Magic. To the left, takes you to the ferry for Port Townsend, as charming as it gets, but that's no longer on Whidbey Island. As you drive north you eventually go to Oak Harbor, a military town that is honestly not charming but probably serves the island well for retail and such. Then there is Deception Pass where you can park and climb down all the way to the water. I would upload some photos but the ones I have readily available are already in the Washington Picture Thread.

Langley is my favorite place on Whidbey. In addition to being beautiful, there are at least a couple of really good restaurants. The Langley Cafe is Greek/Mediterranean, and focusing on local seafood. Nearby Village Pizza is some of the best pizza in the state. Owned by folks from Brooklyn, and does a great clam pizza with fresh local clams. Ebey's Landing, closer to Coupeville, is great for a hike.
