^granted, tax breaks to encourage more investments, because Amazon's/Vulcan's activities are generating piles of money in tax revenue and future taxes.

I think it's simply a money grab. The Seattle City Council loves to raise taxes, and they only have ideology if it's not going to hurt the city's coffers. They've given all kinds of tax breaks and rezones to Vulcan and Amazon, companies not exactly known for being socialistic.
We agree to disagree here Ira.. As far as making money, this tax will only chase away gun stores and gun buyers, both who have been giving the city of Seattle quite a bit of money. Also, the city of Seattle makes it atrociously hard, if not impossible, for gun stores to operate in the area. If it was all about money, you would think they would be promoting gun stores to come and setup in the city and be as friendly to gun businesses as they are to several others in the area. If taxing businesses is so effective, why not tax Dick's Burgers and several other junk food establishments for heart disease, obesity and cancer research? After all, taxing everything just makes so much more money for everyone. Oh yeah, and if they create a junk food tax, then suddenly obesity, cancer and heart disease will drop drastically and everyone will be happy and healthy again! Why not tax ammunition $1.00/rd and then just think of all the money they can make! Since, taxing everything just means immediate wealth for the city!

Have you ever wondered why Portland, Boise and Tacoma, all smaller than Seattle have many, many more times as many gun stores than Seattle? Even the city of Bellevue just across the lake has more gun stores than Seattle, despite being a fraction the size of Seattle! It is because the ultra liberal Seattle leadership, as well as many of its residents, don't believe people should be allowed to own guns.. Unless you have been living in a cave and walked out of it in the last few days, you may have picked up on the fact that Seattle is one of the most anti-gun cities in the country. Seattle also hosts some of the most anti-gun politicians in the country. A majority of Washington state's anti-gun measures introduced into the state have been promoted or created by Seattle politicians. They have been trying to criminalize guns for years, unsuccessfully. The city of Seattle tried banning guns in parks as well as tried to pass several bans on high capacity magazines, assault weapons among other things. None of these had anything to do with the city making a profit. As a matter of fact, the more gun control efforts the city instates, the more it will cost taxpayers to enforce them.

A little history of Seattle's last attempt to unsuccessfully pass an illegal gun ban in 2012, which was knocked down by WA SUpreme Court. The city of Seattle was so reluctant to obey the Supreme Court's rule, that the court fined the city of Seattle every day it refused to honor its decision. Eventually, the city capitulated. Who do you think footed both the legal costs and fines? Take a guess. LOL

This thread has not so much to do with socialism, BTW.. That is another topic.. Fascism, may be a bit more befitting, actually. There are actually some socialist countries who are moderately gun friendly.
