Lowest price house on the page you linked with good schools/neighborhood is 1.7 million. Slightly better area starts at 2 million. Have not even touched the prestigious neighborhoods in Vancouver.
Lowest price house with not good schools/neighborhood is 800,000 for 1000 sqft. Next lowest is 928,000.

The $300K condos in good areas are 400 sqft. studios. The 1/1 that are that cheap are leaseholds, on busy main roads, or in dodgy areas.

That UBC house for $500K is a leasehold and will go for probably double that.

Botev1912, that study is problematic for many reason. This article, that I've linked before explains why.

Without affordable housing, Vancouver risks becoming an economic ghost town | Financial Post
Vancouver is like living in a resort at times. Having beautiful parks and beaches within residential areas downtown can make it feel like that.

However, service and tourism, although important, are not the biggest industries. It the fact that Vancouver is an important port.

Hate wiki..but a clip from it

"The Economy of Vancouver is one of the most energetic in Canada due to Vancouver's situation as the nation's gateway to the Pacific Rim, a major port, and the main western terminus of transcontinental highway and rail routes. Major economic sectors include trade, film, natural resources, technology and tourism."

Even Tacoma is now more expensive than most neighborhoods in Vancouver and Surrey. The only thing that throws off Vancouver's pricing statistics is the fact that there are some very affluent areas in Vancouver, like the high risers in Yaletown, etc, that were as of 5 years ago more expensive than places like Capitol Hill. However, fast foward to 2016, Capitol Hill now has even surpassed the very high end areas of Vancouver in pricing. Also, with the weakening of the Canadian dollar, Canada is starting to become a bit cheaper, overall. I predict with socialist/communist Trudeau in power, the economy is going to tank even more and Canada will become even more affordable, although there will be a hit on the Canadian economy and local salaries.
Trudeau is not a socialist nor a communist. You'd be laughed out of Canada if you said that here.

Default Priced out

As a born and bred Vancouverite I can tell you anything on the west side near UBC is around 3 million. Crazy times. Used to be middle class. Mainland Chinese have driven up prices and made some streets feel deserted. We left 10 years ago as vancouver was expensive then and always has had lower salaries and no jobs. People pay a price yes it is beautiful but you get paid 15-25 percent less than Toronto and Calgary. We love Seattle. Seems more reasonable in terms of house prices but I notice the traffic there

Anyone interested in Bernie sanders just come north. We have Justin Trudeau

If I were to live in any Canadian city it would be Toronto, because in my opinion it's the best city in all of the Americas (U.S.A., Latin America, or Canada).

Both Vancouver and Toronto are cleaner, friendlier, have better looking women on average, have a greater variety of female massage therapists, have a better variety of food, and have much better public services than Seattle.
I like that..Lol..
