I never knew Kent/Auburn had such a bad reputation? where did it come from and what is so bad about these two areas?

Bad reputation? They've got some areas you might want to avoid, but also some very nice areas with good schools. The Kent Station is a half-hour to Downtown Seattle on Sounder commuter rail, and has free all-day parking.

Downtown Kent looks like a sleazy area but the rest look ok. In Auburn, I like the area around Green River College. Also Hwy 18 thru Auburn looks amazing.

Have you been to them? They are fine once you get out of the valley and a little ways east. Other than that no way!

It has been reported that there is a propensity toward unbridled use of dangling prepositions in Kent and Auburn.

Like most cities, each has nice areas and parts less desirable. In Auburn having the reservation and in Kent having the regional justice center contribute to their crime rates.
Being rated 3 (Auburn) and 6 (Kent) where 100 is the lowest crime doesn't help their reputations.

wow I never knew that. I live in Auburn by the Green river Comm college and its extremely laid back. I really dont understand where people get this idea that Kent/Auburn is really that bad.

Any specific examples of the type of crime that goes on here mostly which gives that reputation maybe?

Looks like mostly thefts, burglaries, auto thefts and assaults.

You know there's something off about Kent when they put up signs prohibiting street racing from 10pm to 5am. I thought these signs were a joke at first but apparently they're real.

Yea there used to be a lot of street racing in the Kent/auburn/Renton area on Fridays and Saturdays but that all died down. its different now though.

I can see burglaries being an issue but other than that I'm not sure what else causes the bad rep. I lived in Kent for many years
