By your calculations, let's suppose they sleep for 10 hours. Even if it was $10/hr for 1 kid, that would be

$50 while asleep total
$210 for non-sleeping hours

$360 total. Not $150 for 31 hours.

How many parents are CPR/First Aid Certified? As long as someone can call 911, just like mom would, they are qualified.

Sometimes I wonder why parents are willing to skimp on the cost of a good nanny. I am a college student, CPR certified, I drive, I am insured, and I have 9 years of experience. I make $15/hr (my kids are 10 and 14 and completely self sufficient most of the time, and my job before I made $15/hr for one 6 yr old because she required more attention), $10/hr when they sleep, expenses of activities or reimbursement for them, $150/weekend to house sit and walk the dog when they go out of town (they also allow me to sleep there and eat their food). Now, if my kids were younger (which requires more attention and hands on) any family in and around this area would be willing to pay more per hour, especially since I can drive and I have a CPR certification. $100 - $125 for the entire weekend is ridiculous. Some college students may be wiling to work for that, but honestly the ones that will either aren't qualified to attend to your children like they should or have not done their homework and obviously don't have the experience.
$300 is perfectly reasonable for quality care. If I were to calculate my rate From Friday at 6pm to Sunday at noon it would be $470. Now yes that is on the high side and I might offer $400 for the whole weekend because I like my family, but the quality care and attentiveness they get back from me is worth it to them.

Shoot, we paid our 16 year old sitter $45 bucks just to come sit with our two self sufficient kids so we could go to the Sting concert for 4 1/2 hours. I wouldn't dream of offering someone less than $200 to do what you are asking.

Another option...do you have a friend with kids that you could swap with? They watch your kiddo this time and you give them a date get away another time. That's what we do if we need a weekend night away.

If I do not respect a person enough to pay her at least $10/hour, if it is her regular job, I would not trust her with my kids.

LOL ten dollars an hour I manage a fast food place and we pay college. Kids 9 dollars for hard work an hour. I would say 5 dollars why awake is Max . Maybe 50 for staying over night. Remember kids making 9dollars an hour cant text, talk on phone, watch Tv, or serf the web.

Holy lick.

We pay our sitter $15/hour for two small children. And one giant dog. I count the latter because she's a pain in the butt.

I'm paying that person to watch my children. Compare that to what some one gets paid to flip my burgers or wrap my new Crate and Barrel bowl, I think that's pretty darned reasonable.
