I agree, but where? Is the Landing viable? Or somewhere along Rainier? Ideas?

Rat City!
Rat City already has Zippy's Giant Burgers, which, in all honesty, is far superior to Dick's.

I dont understand this city's obsession with Dick's. It's barely a step up from mcdonalds.

Peter, they are decent in pinch but I tend to agree with you. The homecut fries are a notch up though, pretty tasty.

If you want a damn good burger and a cool vibe, drop by a place called "Giddy Up" (Freelard area on Leary Way). Organic burgers, tasty salad bar and good beer if that matters to you, which it does to us. Daughter says the milkshakes are some of the best in town. Here is the link: About - Giddy Up Burgers

It's got more to do with how long they've been in business, how good an employer they are, how community involved they are, and that they're local ownership. Also that they're cheap. The regular burger costs 1.40. Sure, they're basically a garbage burger only slightly better than McDonald's. You can't compare them to places serving ten dollar burgers. They are what they are, which isn't very good. But they're open late, and in the old days, nothing else was open late, and if you needed some sustenance after going out drinking, they they were.

But it's not Dicks, two very different burgers. I prefer my burger "tavern" style. Lorettas in South Park has a good one.

It's a quality burger at a bargain price. 100% real beef is fresh ground daily, never frozen. French fries are hand-cut daily, with skins. Shakes are made from real ice cream.

Tips:

1. Busier is better. Less time under the heat lamp.

2. Eat it there. Not as good if you take it home.

3. Don't be a cheapskate. Get the Deluxe ($3.10), or the Special ($2.00) if you don't want cheese. The Hamburger ($1.40) and Cheeseburger ($1.75) are for kids and drunks.

4. Fork out for the extra condiments: Ketchup, Onions, and Tartar Sauce (5 cents each). I get two tartars (to slather the fries in). Don't complain - it saves a LOT of waste.

5. Dick's doesn't over-salt their burgers, which is a good thing. If it tastes bland, salt is free. Add to taste.

6. Get a shake. They're great! (I like Vanilla.) It is the whole medley of a Deluxe, fries, and shake that makes the meal - for $7.50, including the extra condiments.

Remember, Dick's pays their employees well and provides great health and educational benefits. That means no spit or snot added as a bonus topping.

The Special is my fave, as it is lettuce, relish and mayo only. The Deluxe is fantastic if you are hungry, it basically is their cheeseburger X2 patties with some additional relish. Fries are soft, but tasty. I rarely do pop there, but they do offer shakes. Also remember they only take cash.

They now take credit/debit cards.
