It's an engineering non-starter. 600 feet+ of Sound depth combined with huge distances and inland-sea conditions that can put ferries out of service doesn't really pass the sniff test.

A bridge that I could see being built some time in the near future that wouldn't get to much political opposition is between Bremerton and Port Orchard across the Sinclair inlet, most likely just southwest of the Navy yards. that particular part is only 0.68 miles wide, going all the way around between the two points is currently a 4.4 mile trip.

Or if it's not too disruptive, than a better option would probably be between Bremerton and Annapolis, which that part of the inlet is 0.91 miles wide, and going all the way around between the two points is a 10 mile trip.

Now such a bridge would only be feasible if Bremerton and Port Orchard continue to grow and the traffic jam around Gorst continues to get worse.

And as far as our ferries, well if we had them replaced with ones like these, travel times wouldn't be so bad.

A bridge on the southern end of Bainbridge island connecting it to Kitsap peninsula would also help possibly with a light rail connecting to Bremerton, this way the Bremerton ferry could be canceled, except for maybe just leaving the passenger ferry in place.
