Yup, I remember when I first heard it. I used to see lots of shows in the early to mid 90s at the Crocodile Cafe. Article link here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sea...attle/%3famp=1

“I can still remember the sound of the cassette tape going into the player in the middle of the console of my 1985 Toyota Corolla. I was in the parking lot of the Tower Records store on Mercer Street. It was the late summer of 1991, and I’d gotten a purloined advance copy of Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” and for the first time, the sounds of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” came blasting toward me.

It floored me.

This week marks 30 years since the release of that landmark album on Sept. 24, 1991. Since then, “Nevermind” has enjoyed sales of over 30 million albums; hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in January 1992, and spent over 540 weeks on that chart; and in 2020, Rolling Stone listed “Nevermind” as the sixth greatest album of all time”.

Good morning, homes. I smile seeing this thread because I thought of you when reading that article earlier this morning.

I arrived here in the early 90s. Some good memories.

I saw 'em for $8 bucks in Bellingham.

Unique.

I've seen the documentaries and read the books....Tom Grant and others.

Nice Returning2USA, that's really cool. Nirvana's (early at least) music seems to have a timeless quality, our 17 year old daughter loves it and analyzes the lyrics. They were "angsty", to say the least.

I've listened to alternative music for many years and I remember at the time thinking how dull and drab the music scene had become. Then I heard 'Smells like Teen Spirit' on the radio, and it was like a musical kick in the n*tz. Now that was more like it!

Exactly shae, well put. One more monotone Morrissey song would have made me lose it back then, grunge saved the day.

The pizza was an underrated star. Reportedly the new place will have pizza, too. Here’s hoping that it holds a candle to the original location even if it’s a different style.

What's interesting to me is that even today....although it's not often....I see teens wearing Nirvana t-shirts and Cobain t-shirts in South East Asia.

People know who he is....

It does mean something.
