“Thousands of workers will start their day from downtown Seattle after three years of working from home. The move to in-person work was announced by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in February. The company doesn’t believe it can operate at its full potential without workers coming back to the office.

Businesses in downtown Seattle are happy about getting more foot traffic as workers return to work in person at least three days a week. Downtown Seattle Association said it expects more workers to come into the city from Tuesday through Thursday.

DSA leaders said more people means more opportunities for businesses, and the city has been seeing a steady increase in worker traffic this year. In March, there were just under 78,000 people walking around downtown. That’s the highest level of daily worker foot traffic since the start of the pandemic”.

Both the next door neighbor and the one across the street returned to Amazon SLU several months ago, but just for 2 days a week. One drives in alone, the other has a Vanpool, and keeps the van at his house. Just before I get off of I90 at the stadiums I have noticed more cars taking the I5 north exit. My wife drives to Ballard some weekday mornings and has found the 520 bridge 8-9am traffic to be much worse than a few months ago.

Nice to see the happy hour places in SLU full of people again.

Traffic hasn't been too bad in the downtown areas unless you're trying to get on an interstate ramp.

How embarrassing is the below? Taken from Seattle Times article today.

https://www.seattletimes.com/busines...ffice-layoffs/

No, they are not concerned about Covid, they are concerned about having to wake up early for a commute. Its all BS, cry me a river about Covid!!! Everyone has moved on except for Amazon crybabies.

That employee, who is a software engineer and asked to remain anonymous to protect their job, said they are concerned about the health risks of working in the office. They said they asked the company to designate an area of the office where masks are required to protect against the spread of COVID. The company declined to do so, the worker said.

Most of these tech workers are vaccinated and boosted I don't know how many times. Why are they still worried?

Sounds like the "walkout" is during lunch hour too between 12-1pm. It's gone beyond embarrassing now to pure comedy. Amazon should just fire them on the spot. People like that have zero pulse on the real world and no wonder Amazon bet on the wrong horse during the waning days of the pandemic. Fewer of these deadweight employees, the better it will be for Amazon.

All of it's easier said than done once the "short staffing bug" hits.

I'm predicting a better market for buyers out here in the country soon as some of those who moved OUT of the city in the past few years now need to move back to work in the office again.

Absolutely. Wouldn't want to be selling in the exurbs right now that's for sure.
