Tony...My last comment about "this is a free world" was not directed at you....It was that other guy talking about how he doesn't want outsiders moving to Seattle. You have been pretty cool about people wanting to move there. And have given some good advise and info.
Cheers!

Hey, it's NOT that you HAVE to strictly stick to the topic. If there were no mods here you would have seen only viagra, cellphones and illegal immigration thread.
Should I delete my own post as being off-topic ?

If you want to respond to that message go to about the forum or send me PM(private message)

So I take it that it was directed at me, Shawn?! Did I imply that it wasn't a free country?? I think you're really taking my comments way out of context. It's true that there are people --although some might not want to admit it-- that would perhaps discourage people from moving to "their state" because of overcrowding and possibly "outsiders" (using your term) bringing different attitudes to the region. It's just not in the PNW but exists in a lot of places ...just read threads on this board on other state's discussions.

My comments that you might have taken out of context were part of my good-natured ribbing (hope he took it that way) of Tony about his portraying the region looking through rose colored glasses. My ribbing was just that: "hey Tony, let's keep the people (or "outsiders" as you refer to them as) out of the NW ...it's just going to add to the congestion!" --and you took me SERIOUSLY????????

So all I ask of you, Shawn, is what people are always telling me, DON'T BE SO SENSITIVE. Lighten up; obviously you (and me, for that matter) can move to any place in the country we want ...the locals might not like it but tough beans!

okay now you are just sending mixed messages.. do we or do we not have to stick to the topic? You just closed another thread because you felt it strayed. you even posted this:

"forums also usually deal with one topic and personal exchanges are typically discouraged"

Perhpas we have a language barrier as to what you are trying to say. Can we have "personal exchanges" or not? And if so...when? Oh wait... is this a personal exchange?

hmmmm, I just noticed that closed thread ...interesting.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

And the "viagra, cellphone illegal immigration thread" comment I'm still trying to digest. There was such a thread where all three were discussed together?

However, when I now go back and read the OP's message ...just what the heck is the topic of this thread, anyway? It probably should have been closed pretty early in its life because the OP really didn't ask a question. He just stated a declaration. All he said was he had a job interview and was excited about moving back to Seattle.

Somebody should have responded "woohoo, good for you!" and then the thread should have been closed. What else is there to say? A declaration as scubashawn made is just a conductor for off topic remarks and we all could have predicted that the thread would stray as it has.

But who am I to say anything ...perhaps I should be moderator of this section of the board. Then all the threads would be short and sweet ...and I might even allow a thread where we discuss Viagra. Wouldn't that be interesting?!

Discussions that are hijacked and stray are the nature of messageboards, and what keeps things interesting.

I don't get why the administration want to discourage it - but whatever. As I am sure they are aware, given some of their responses on other threads, when people get annoyed with heavy-handed moderation, they generally go elsewhere.

how many more do you think we can get out of this one before it closes?

Jenbar that was well said!!! I too think the different personalities makes it interesting. We are not robots with no personality and only fact running through our heads.

And Rocco as always...thanks for the laughs!!!

so to make sure we get back on topic....

Hey Scuba... what is the outcome????

oh wait... Heck I don't even know if I am allowed to ask...
