My girlfriend and I are only going to be in the city for an hour or two on Thurs 13th. What is the most beautiful place to eat lunch? I'm picturing big picture windows looking over the water; good seafood would be nice, but not necessary. The view or an introduction to local culture, as in a unique restaurant that IS Seattle, takes precedence. I greatly appreciate any responses. Cheers, JSticks.

Salty's seems like it might take too long; some reviews have people sitting there nearly 2 hours. We are going to be Skydiving in Shelton around 3:30, might not get to Seattle until 11:30-12. How bout something quicker, like a little famous place, a place that would pop up on that DriveIns Diners n Dives show. Seattle's famous grill or mom n pop eatery with some history. Thanks for the input already!

Ivar's Salmon House on Lake Union?
The Athenian in the Pike Place Market?
or Salumi in Pioneer Square?

There's a restaurant on top of the Space Needle. You might want to see if it does lunch. It's pretty scenic.

The Athenian has been around 100 years, was in the movie " Sleepless in Seattle", has a great view, has pretty good food, and makes stiff drinks.

Fast and typically Seattle? Go to the Ivar's walk-up window at the Salmon House and take your lunch to their floating dock. It's only a few minutes off the freeway and has free parking. You'll be eating lunch on a floating dock in Lake Union with a great view of the skyline.

Fish & Chips and chowder from Ivars is about as Seattle as you can get.

If you're into americanized French cuisine, then there's two French restaurants to choose from, and they're both behind the fish throwers at Pike Place. Other than that, there's a couple dozen small food market shops where you can go in and grab something, then walk to the park that's next to Pike Place at the end of the walk (Victor Steinbrueck park). That may be a little iffy because there's frequently political protest groups and bums there, which may spoil the view. On the other hand, you could go to a place that's behind the Crab Pot restaurant along Alaskan way, and there's an outdoor patio which is right on the water you can sit on if the weather is nice.
