Is there somewhere around Seattle where you can live, and be able to look out your window or go outside your house and see the Space Needle? I know it's kind of a looney question, but I'm curious, I don't mind if it's a poor/rich area, I just want to know if such a area exists. (I think there's a 95% chance this is going to be a apartment/hotel.)

Best place i can think of is probably Melrose. Right above I5. There are some really nice (and affordable, yet not "the hood") places over there. There are also many parts of Queen Anne that have spectacular views of the needle. You can also see it from (my favourite part of the city) West Seattle/Alki.

Melrose, Queen Anne, okay, well I proved to my friend you CAN live somewhere where you can see it, he was all: They wouldn't place Skyscrapers by houses!

Well the city planners are careful to limit the heights of buildings in the area surrounding the space needle so that it stay prominent in the skyline. So you can see if from the south side of queen anne hill, south lake/cascade, eastlake, Montlake, southern parts of wallingford, capitol hill. And of course, there are numerous condo high rises downtown and in belltown which have a view.

Do you know the names of any high rises in Queen Anne?
