Why is this a surprise to anyone? We've been building what will become the equivalent of the Nazi SS for many years. Our current president even stated so around the time he was elected; but it was going on much earlier than that. It really wouldn't surprise me much if we ("we" meaning the government the unwashed masses fund and vote in) were also training our own equivalent of Einsatzgruppen (look those fellas up if you don't know what that they were).
That police footage was inspirational, wasn't it? I'm sure it started out "mellow" like that in 1920's Germany as well. The SS, Dachau, the Einsatzgruppen, and finally Treblinka, came later.
At this point, there is no point of worrying about it or wondering what to do about it. It's too late. If anything like this is going to happen, it's going to happen and there is nothing anybody can do about it. We've made our bed. The sleeping, catatonic society has turned a blind eye for many, many years. We all let this happen. In fact, we caused it with our votes and, for most of us anyway, our trust that the "intelligentsia" and "leaders" had our best interests in mind. What a joke. And who's to stop them now? A handful of "nutty" tea party holdovers in Washington? I wouldn't be surprised if the few elected officials in Washington who do want to reverse the police state course didn't just turn up "missing" one day.
If nothing else, remember this: the highest echelons of the most horrid and frightful "state authorities" in recent history (generally the Nazi state and more specifically the Schutzstaffel (SS)) were manned in large part by the most educated men of Germany. Men that a population "trusted" to lead them and keep them secure. University-bred. Men that often held PhDs--sometimes two. Law. Engineering. Medicine. Psychology. Science. These were many of the leaders of the SS and Nazi state. The same leaders of the SS that became the most horrid monsters we've recently seen. All because of a cause. All in the name of security of their state. All because they were "doing their duty." Eventually these educated men were the one's the masses stood by and watched as (these educated men) raped the country and committed the most horrendous acts known to man. Do you think the typical men who manned the death camps were any different than your average Joe? That's what a cause will do for you. That's what indoctrination and indifference will do for you. That's what blind allegiance will do for you.
Primum Addendum: As for the video, it's another attempt by paranoid conspiracy theorists to rain on our parade, right? Hyperbole. Designed to disrupt the Utopia we've got going here. Sure enough. All is well. There, now I said it so some of you won't have to take time from your busy lives to respond to such fantasy.
Ultimum Addendum: And there you have today's installment from your very own Armchair Philosopher (tm), who correctly believes that there is a huge difference between a good, sound solution and a solution that sounds good. We've been favoring the latter for at least a hundred years.

Anyone who cannot read, interpret and analyze the handwriting on the wall is living in a cocoon. Obama told us before he was elected that this country needs a domestic army as well trained as the military and he has been working toward that end since his first election. We are now seeing the results.
One of the tactics his administration uses is to label anyone who disagrees with him as a "potential terrorist" (e.g. "patriots", "veterans", "preppers", "Christian fundamentalists, "Constitutionalists", et al). Slapping a label on someone makes them a little less human--and thus easier to kill.

Yes, this is the way to create "The Other" or "one of them," who are no longer human beings. I'll admit it gets hard sometimes to not have such thoughts, in the other direction, of course (because they make it so easy! ) ). But I try to "judge" an individual as such--based on his/her own merits.
However, and quite hypocritically I might add, I must make one observation about "them," (there's that damn labeling again!):
Have you ever noticed that when "they" label others as "patriots", "veterans", "preppers", "Christian fundamentalists," "Constitutionalists," etc, those groups "they" despise so much are, generally speaking, people who simply want to be left alone to their own ways, beliefs, lifestyle, devices, etc. Personally, that's all I ask. You go ahead and do anything you like; just allow me the choice as to whether to submit to those choices of yours, and I'm happy. It doesn't matter to me what anyone else does, as long as it's voluntary participation on my, and everyone else's part.
On the other hand, "we" (I'll say "we" because I roughly fall in there somewhere in my philosophies) also have negative labels for "them" such as "commies," "socialists," "progressives," "dictators," "collectivists," "police state," etc (at least I see those as negative labels!).
But, when we get past the name calling there is certainly a hint of truth to both sets of names, isn't there? Most of "us" lash out with these labels ("communist," etc) because we simply want to be left alone and "they" won't see of it. "We" simply want to make our own choices concerning the important life issues that "they" want to collectivize and force upon everyone. "We" want personal liberty. To be left alone. "They" don't want to allow that.
"They" hate "us" because "we" want to live our lives on our own terms. "We" hate "them" because "they" won't let "us" do that. If we are going to compartmentalize, who's in the right, and who is fighting for the just cause... those who want power and control over everyone else, or those who want power and control over themselves only?
the Government has recently purchased billions of rounds of ammo and 2,700 armored vehicles and also 7 thousand full auto ar15s, all to just keep us safe here at home, all for home land security, don't you ALL feel safer, I mean wasn't it awesome to see them use marshal law around Boston to hunt an unarmed 19 year old = The region felt as if it had been gripped by martial law: Police armed with rifles patrolled deserted streets in Boston, Watertown, Cambridge, Waltham, Newton, Belmont, and Brookline, and residents hunkered inside, under authorities’ unprecedented order.
Didn't you all sit and watch and chant USA,USA...IT WAS AWESOME..
