I don't know if this is fact but it was sent to me. For those who hate Wal-mart because they are "un American".

Target is a French Company?

..Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.

"Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud
sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our
spring recognition event.

We received the following reply
from the local TARGET management: " Veterans do not meet our
area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action
groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and
veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria,
then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were
not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just
a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate
Headquarters and their response was the same. That's their
national policy.

Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow
the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their
stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would
not allow famili es of employees who were called up for
active duty to continue their insurance coverage while
they were on military service. Then as I dig further,

TARGET
is a French-owned corporation.

Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American
Veterans, then why sh ould my family and I support their
stores by spending our hard earned American dollars!

And, have their profits sent to France.

Without the American
Vets, where would France be today?

&n bsp;

"They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks"

Sincerely,
Dick Forrey
Veterans Helping Veterans

Please send this on to everyone you know to let Target know we dont need them either !

I actually like that Target doesn't have the ringers. I tend to shop there more during the holidays then anywhere else. I don't like feeling that if I don't give my money, that I'm a bad person. I can't stand hearing the bells constantly.

Why is it only for Christmas? Why not all year if they need money so bad? We certaintly don't have a lot of money and I don't see anyone donating to me. Everyone else seems to want my money though. If I wanna donate, I'll call you, don't call me or ring a bell in my face.

I'm with you! I hate solicitors outside of stores. You always have to walk past them and they try to give you the guilt trip by looking at you with big sad eyes. Just last week outside of Trader Joes there was this guy soliciting donations for something and I walked past him and he said "Maybe next time?" I didn't answer, but I felt like telling him I'm on the brink of becoming homeless myself!

The Salvation Army red kettles and bellringers go way back to the late 1800s, it is a tradition. Growing up in the Salvation Army church (yes, it is a church) I often volunteered (was pretty much expected) to "stand kettles" during the holiday season in Western NY...BRRRRRR is all I have to say about that!

I didn't really care so I didn't dig. As I said it was sent to me and I didn't know if it was true or not. Dig all "you" want. That's what it was about.

So what was the point of your initial post? It's not as if you were asking if it was true or not based on the statement highlighted in red.

I sure hope you don't believe every email forward you receive.
