I was looking at the FIFA rankings and in 2006 the US were 4th!

FIFA.com - The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking

How were they this high as they are normally 15th or so?

The most recent rankings

FIFA.com - The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking

Scotland are ranked 66th! I know they aren't the strongest team but i thought they would be higher than Jamaica! Paul i want your opinion on this, is this really that accurate?

not in my opinion londonUSA, scotland are better than jamaica, nothern ireland, rep of ireland again thats in my opinion, but the funny thing is scotland have been improving under the new manager, greece and norway are 11th and 12th! c'mon now scotland are about as good as them with then, i don't know how they do it but i haven't ever really payed much attention to the fifa rankings. rep of ireland are 34th we are 66th! theres no way they are 30 places better than us, in my opinion we are at least on par with them. in october 2007 we were just 2 places behind england in 13th place in the rankings! no way have we declined 50 places in just over 3 years!

I found it hard to believe that Jamaica are apparently better than Scotland. I'm not sure how they work it out but some of the rankings just don't make sense.

The whole system is a farce. You probably have to donate big $$ to move up. The more $$ you pay the higher up you go. The US does not play that many quality teams to ever get at top 15 ranking. Ireland are crap now, plain and simple. Scotland are probably top 50 team but not much more.

England IMHO are not a top 10 team either. Albania are not better than Scotland and sitting 50th is a joke. Like the World Cup draw and how it was made, I am not surprised at the BS ranks.

Those rankings mean nothing. The US and Czech Republic were 3 and 4 before the 2006 World Cup and neither got out of their group.

yep nobody should really pay attention to them, people who know there world football will be a better judge of to how poor or good a team is

and as for scotland not being a top 50 team, ill name just a few of the teams that in my opinion we are better than

Hungary
Belarus
Peru
Costa Rica
Georgia
Ecuador
Libya
Gabon
New Zealand
Armenia
Jamaica
Northern Ireland
Albania
Iran
Burkina Faso

and we are on par at least with

Republic of Ireland

and no way are these two in the top 15!

Norway
Greece

I meant to hit 40 dude sorry!
Probably right with regards Ireland. Scotland is improving though. Ireland suck balls partly becasue the manager is trying to make us play a style of football we are not capable of. If we went back to Mick McCarthy style of football I think we could do better too.

lol it's cool yeah we are with all the youngsters coming through and a good amount of scots playing in the EPL now, yeah trappatoni is sucking ireland dry, typical italian, look at mancini with man city, ireland have quality players to like keane, dunne, mccarthy, duff, doyle and i was gonna say mcgeady but we all know he's scottish really! lol there in the same boat as scotland was in but we seem to be improving alot, just praying we make the european championships!

Trap tries to make Ireland play a style of football we simply cannot play. We are not Italy. If we play within our skill and physical level we can do very good but not with Trap.

McGeady was just born with green blood in a blue country :P I hope he can find his finishing touch in Russia because then hell be kick ass for us. Maybe toughen him up a little too.
