Only give the World Cup to countries that are CAPABLE of hosting. Yeah, I know it's the "World's Game" and all, but we all know that there are places in the world that have far more issues than others just trying to build stadiums.
I'd limit it to around 10 nations and 10 nations only.
Would Brazil and South Africa be among your 10? Would they have been among your 10 before they hosted it?
FIFA is a rotten, corrupt organization that forgot one major rule...don't diss the king...they denied the USA the 2022 Cup in what was obviously a bribed World Cup for Qatar...not saying we don't bribe but that oil money was longer...FIFA pushed too far and forgot who the big Dog is...now they are paying for it

As I understand it the reason the US was involved is due to the fact that the US banking system was allegedly being used to filter corrupt money, nothing to do with that country being denied the hosting of the World Cup, which has held it more recently than a number of other countries that have also been looking to hold it again.

Officially sure, that's the official reason...that was FIFAs screw up...the motivation was losing the World Cup bid...and to Qatar of all places...obvious corruption in play, USA was the better choice by far
I've seen Blatter called "courageous" for resigning, that's nonsense - he's running, circling the wagons, hiring a bunch of lawyers, and trying to save his crusty, old, cheating ass.
I think that the 2022 Cup won't go to the US or Qatar. The US has hosted three world cups since 1994, if you include the women, and so FIFA will probably award it to somewhere else that has gone longer without hosting.
