Hi All, Currently in Northern Michigan and looking to re-locate ANYWHERE where there is no snow and extream cold temps. Moving due to years of Dr. orders for husbands health. Have some family in SW Florida but do not think we/ he could ever take the HOT and humid conditions. So my question is do you think S. Carolina would be a good mix for us. Does this state get super hot and humid in the summers? Never leaving Michigan this is a HUGE move for us. Dont even know what towns are in this state but moving to a more healthier state is first in order for us. Any information would be greatly appreaciated. We are a very to ourselves quiet couple who like our space and dont bother anyone so a small town would be great for us. I personally would like to be by the ocean but pretty sure we wont be able to afford that. I dont want to ask for to much. Thanks a bunch.
If you look at a highway map of South Carolina, you'll see that Interstate 26 connects the three main metro areas (Greenville-Spartanburg, Columbia, and Charleston) in a diagonal, going from NW to SE. As you move SE, the humidity increases considerably IMO. Charleston and the Beaufort area can get quite humid in the summer. Columbia is known for its summer heat but is a little less humid from Charleston. If you can't stand humidity, then the Upstate region around Greenville is probably best being at the foothills of the mountains. On average in the Greenville area you might get a couple or three periods of snow in the winter which melts in a week.
There are so many small towns you might like all over the place, it's hard to know where to begin.
