Hello to all, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any advice I can get. I have visited Beaufort many times over the past 20 years. I have always wanted to move there. This past summer, on a visit, I met 3 people who have relocated from my home town of Mentor to Beaufort. It seemed like a sign. Now, at the age of 47 and single, I am ready to make my dream a reality and relocate. I would be interested in the neighborhood around the historic district of Bay & Cateret-rental preferably in an older home with some character. Is this possible? I never see any opportunities on any of the realty sites that I visit. What is the job market like? I am an executive assistant in the real estate/marketing field. My salary is $50,000 per year. What are the ratio of single professional men to women? Please give me some tips and your honest feedback, and thanks to all.

with paris island being in your backyard finding single guys in beaufort won't be a problem. rule of thumb - anywhere there is a military base you'll find more single guys than single women.

Military men are notorious for being bad dates...and worse husbands.

50k in Beaufort isn't going to go too far. Rentals in the core historic district will easily be $1300.00/mo & up. Beaufort isn't a hot spot for jobs; plan on commuting to Bluffton or possibly Savannah. The economy in Beaufort is purely tourism & military driven; neither provide good paying jobs. Most money in Beaufort is "old money".

Beaufort is lovely. Not exactly a business/commercial area so well paying jobs could be scarce. Most of the military personnel (Marines) are young and subject to relocation every few years. Professional, single men say 45 to 55 will be hard to come by in Beaufort.

I suggest you take a good look at Charleston versus Beaufort.

Whatever, the best to you.
