Hey all',

We are a young cosmo couple from India. My Husband & me are moving to Columbia soon.. I tumbled into this web site in hopes to find some good advice that will help us plan our moving. Still in my initial stages of planing, hence I'm looking at options to rent around south Columbia. I'm really confused as to what's a difference in living in a condo/apartment/townhomes? You see! where I come from we mostly lived in towers(not sure how it's classified here), with most utilities taken care of..what type of structure is most suitable for the weather in Columbia? any suggestions on suitabe communities i should look at? Any precatuions we should consider?

Since it is my first time to SC, I would depend on your insights to plan. Anything, round the clock & anyone!!

Thanks in advance

AG.

I don't live in Columbia, but the Columbia sub-forum may be a better place to ask.

Bear in mind to better assist you they will need to know what your monthly budget is and the basic area your jobs may be in.

A condo and apartment are pretty much the same thing. The difference is condos are typically owned by an individual that rents them and an apartment is owned by a company that rents them. Most apartments are single story 1-3 bedroom units in a building that is 1-3 stories high. Think really big hotel.

Townhomes are typically multi-floor units who, like condos, if rented is often done so by the owner. Think of stand alone homes pushed together so they share exterior side walls.

You may see a reference to a 'patio home'. This is typically like townhomes, but on a single story.

Welcome to Columbia. The above poster is correct; you will receive more responses in the Columbia sub-forum. I'd recommend you duplicate this post in the sub forum.
