I just wanted to kind of re-start this thread. It's been a while.

I've been trying to go to new and different restaurants lately, rather than the "typical" Spokane restaurants - Clinkerdagger, Tomato Street, etc.

I will start:

1) My recent new favorite - Yards Bruncheon

2) Still great - Churchhill's

3) Good but not as good as everyone says - The Flying Goat

4) Disappointing (but not technically a restaurant) - Sweet Frostings

Any advice/opinions?

Thanks for the advice. Never been there yet, but it's on our list for the future.

Tomato Street on Division just south of Francis, it's my #1 favorite restaurant in Washington State

Pryor's Restaurant on Wellesley in Otis Orchards, love the hometown feel and you get a lot of food for your money

Deleon's on Division near Whitworth College, great Mexican food.

Tavolata is sally good.
Bosco for delivery/takeout
Luna is nice, not my favorite but lots of people love it.
Benedittos and Versalia (used to be Veraci) for pizza.
Flying Goat and Republic Pi for pizza is good too.
Wild Sage and Scratch are pretty decent.

Thanks for the input. I agree that I also love Tomato Street, it's just that I've been there at least 15,000 times...

Deleon's was good the one time I've been there. I should try it again.

Never even heard of Pryor's - I will need to do a little research.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice. Luna and Wild Sage are on my list of "need to try". Other than Flying Goat and Republic Pi, I've never heard of the others - will need to look into them. Thanks!

OT here - I just read on Luna's website that they add a 3% "service charge", which is "not in lieu of a gratuity".

Is this a thing? If it's a hard fee, not a tip, then why don't they just increase prices? More hidden fees?

Maybe that place won't be on my "need to try" list anymore...

I’m not surprised about Luna.
We haven’t been back to Luna since we complained to the manager about some truly abysmal service (prepandemic) and he told us he planned to use our experience as a teaching opportunity for his staff.
Okay, Dude.
Glad you could use our $200 dinner for a teaching opportunity.
That makes me feel better.

I would've guessed that the wait staff sitting down at another table to talk for twenty minutes would be pretty self explanatory as to its effect on customer service.

Thanks for the info. Maybe Luna will be a pass...
