2beamissourian,
The input I can provide isn't going to be much help, really, because I've only been to Buffalo once. From what I saw, it was a nice little town. We stopped to eat lunch at the 'Maple Street Grill'...the food, service & atmosphere were all good. I'd go back.

They've got great Fried Pickles there. As far as Hotels, Motels, & Activities, I'm worthless. I just didn't pay attention or inquire about those things. Sorry.
The town looked clean, and economically healthy. The storefronts weren't too bad looking....well cared for. It was quiet when we went through. Very nice. In fact, our realtor lived in Buffalo. She really liked it, and said we'd probably be happy there too if we'd found a home there.
When we first started our home search, our realtor took us all over to see different areas so we could give her an idea of what we liked & didn't like. After seeing Buffalo, I'd definitely go back for a closer look.
As far as proximity to Springfield....it's going to be a little bit of a commute..my uneducated guess would be about 35 miles or so, depending on where in Springfield you need to go. However, once you get onto I-44, it shouldn't be too bad, as the traffic flows very nicely.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Bottom Line: It'd be worth a look, because it's got the small town atmosphere with reasonable proximity to larger/other towns.
Hope this helped,
Boof
