Hey, all!

My husband is a huge fan of both Dodge vehicles and the Cardinals, so when he found a little information on Lou Brock Dodge, his interest was piqued.

We know it was open from about 1969-1979 or so, and that there may have been some controversy over the SBA loan that he used to open it. We'd be very interested in finding out more, as this is kind of a unique-to-the-times story in my opinion. Photos would be even better!

Thanks!

~D

I didn't know much about this, but did a google search and found this article from Jet about it from 1969 when he opened the dealership. The article includes a photo of Brock in front of the building.

Thanks! Actually, that's one of the articles we found before. It's an interesting read. You'd think, though, that between this being the first African-American-owned dealership in Missouri, combined with the fact that it was a local boy made good, as well as a sports icon, there would be more information out there on this!

^A trip to the library would probably provide better results just given the age of the story. Best of luck!

Eww, what are those ratty, moldy bricks.

Anyhow, you can live chat with a librarian on STL Library website St. Louis Public Library

There is also access to several databases and electronic references. Books...hah!
