I will be near Kirkwood this week and my date lives in St. Charles. Does anyone have any suggestions on a park or some kind of outdoor avenue where one could walk and have a simple first meet? Preferably in a route somewhere between these 2 towns.

We don't really drink, so thinking perhaps ice cream or something along those lines. We are in our late 20s. Thanks for any low frills/laid back date ideas. It doesn't have to be outdoors, but I don't want the typical dinner or drinks setting because I don't do too well sitting down and talking to someone I've never met.

The downtown sectino of Kirkwood has a lot of restaurants and on Thursdays they have live music near the train station. They also have a custard place in walking distance. Lot's of places to sit outside or walk around and there is usually a lot of people if the weather is nice.

Park? Des Peres Park, 270 and Manchester. It's a good size, nice scenery. I like it better than some of the other ones. There's a recently opened Baskin Robbins across the street on Manchester by the Schnucks. And, there is an Oberweiss a few places down the road as well, for ice cream. It's also across the street from West County Mall, down the street from Des Peres Cinema etc...
