Concerning the weather: Yeah, I don't think our winters here compare to those of other places in the country - the Northeast for example, or other parts of the Midwest such as North Dakota. But, one of the differences between here and the Northeast is sure, they have severe winters, but they also have milder summers. We dip into the extremes both during the summer and winters. We can have 0 degree winter days and 100 degree summer days. I think having those extremes is what makes the whether around here kind of crappy (it also gives us some of the worst roads in the country!) - but some people might enjoy it. I also think our fall and spring are way too short; I'm not sure if that's due to humidity or what. We have an attic fan installed in our house, and we only were able to use it a few times this spring before we had to go straight to the air conditioner. I personally prefer either island whether (on an island, not here ;P) or milder climate. In San Jose where I last lived for example, they typically see temperatures in the low 40's in the winter, and high 80's in the summer - and this is without any humidity, so their 40's are warmer than our 40's, and their 80's are cooler than our 80's. I think we live in an extreme weather environment just because our temperatures swing so much from one end of the spectrum to the other. Those are just my preferences though; someone else might find that milder climate to be very unexciting.
Oh, I'll tell you what I do love about Midwest weather though: thunderstorms! We don't get as much of them here as I did when I lived in Oklahoma, but we do get some good ones, and I love 'em!

I don't know much about Cabrini, but my daughter has gone to St. Margaret of Scotland since 3rd grade (she's heading into 8th now) and it's gone really well. I'd recommend it.

Aren't there two O'Fallons? MO and IL?
We have great neighbors, on both sides of us. They're nice and look out for us, and vise versa.

My neighbors have invited me to brunch and the Pride parade, I know my postman and policeman, and everyone I encounter is genuine. The city has SO much to do that we will never be bored. The food - oh man - choices, choices, and choices. I can't begin to list all the ways I love this area but I will never go back to California except to visit and escape this ungodly humidity for a week
Thanks to all who helped me here. I feel liberated from the endless laws and taxes and bills and fake people in CA. A little (a lot) of humidity is certainly worth it. Can't wait for my first TGS farmer's market tomorrow.

Great thread here at least the first 4/5ths! Good to see some positive posts about St. Louis City. Too many negatives from some posters. I thank you for your favorable posts and comments. Of course I hope that your 'honeymoon' period lasts for quite awhile longer.

Agreed, nice post. Those of us that recognize the great things going on in the city need to spread the word. My "honeymoon" in St. Louis continues and has lasted 6 years. I feel that I have not seen half of what St. Louis offers and, in addition, there is something new to discover every month given the redevelopment.

Welcome! I've been in St Louis about 6 years and still love it. I live in South City (Fox Park) Did you know they do free yoga in Tower Grove Park on the weekends?
