So what's everyone's 4th of July plans? Not sure what I'm doing yet as alot of my friends are currently out of town. Will probably take Friday off work since pretty much everyone else will be doing the same. I've got a couch surfer coming Fri night till Sat, so that should be fun
We are going to receive no help of any kind. Those with insurance will get a quick fix on the house and nothing more.
Nobody will be going anywhere and insurance rates will go way up. Life just got a lot worse for many NYers. Which us sad. Not one person wants to rebuild. We want out. But flood insurance wants us to stay and they cut the checks.

You do NOT have to rebuild. You can take you check and bail. Let the mortgage company foreclose. Not ideal, but it is a way out.
Judging by the arial shots, looks like a good portion of the city was under water. Not exactly a small area. Can't say I blame anyone for not wanting to rebuilding only to be flooded again. I'd probably bail and let the thing be foreclosed on if I had 11 feet of water in my house and chances were high it would flood again. That's why I don't understand the people who live along the Mississippi who flood every few years. How many times do you want to rebuild your life? Just MOVE! It's far simpler than rebuilding just when finish from the last time.

East Syracuse has a great fireworks display and if you don't want to be in the crowd, you can just set up in a good spot in the village or nearby.
Thanks. I'll look into this a bit. We're hoping for something to spend the day at. This is our first 4th of July out here and after having 3 July 4th's with absolutely no festivities within an hour we want to do something!
