What are the things to be taken care off?
I have heard about Syracuse's SnowFall???? How's that...
Where are good places to hang-out? Any Food joints??

Sryacuse is the snowiest big city in the country.... usually around 120 inches of snow a year. BUT it's not like there is 6 feet of snow on the ground year round (or at all). There are more days durring winter with no snow on the ground than there are with it. You will usually see one decent snow where you will get a couple of feet of snow at once. Other than that it's periodic.

Just curious, but do you live in the Central NY area or even Syracuse area ????
qwerty_7: I lived in that area for 20+ yrs & not to scare you or anything, true there aren't many blizzards, BUT there is a LOT of snowfall-- usually starting in mid Nov & continuing sometimes into late March. The average snowfall for the winter is between 110"-120". Great if yer a snow or ski bunny.
Lots of cultural stuff in the downtown areas. Lots of lakes & waterways for swimming, boating, canoeing/kayaking & skiing. The NY State Fair is in Syracuse (well acutally in the Solvay area) & is a BIIIIIIIIIG draw. Bout 20-25 mins away is the Turning Stone Casino (if yer into gambling) in Verona in Oneida County.
Well, maybe my having lived in the Cortland/Onondaga counties area could cause a difference in opinion. Just tryin to give qwerty_7 a realistic view on the area from someone who has lived in the area for a long period of time -- thassss all.
And Syracuse [i]definitely[i] has snow on the ground more than just after a snow ....... which if I remember correctly these last few years has been at least 20+days out of 30 per month during the winter. And the annual snowfall has averaged around 130" per year for at least the last 5-7 yrs.
Just a note about places to eat: we loved the Dinosaur Barbeque - look it up in the phonebook. It is in southern Syracuse. It is a "roadhouse" but I did not have any trouble there. Look them up on the net. Good food, relaxed - somewhat Coyote Ugly atmosphere. But if it is good enough for Bill Clinton, it is good enough for me!
My mom's family is from upstate, I have heard that Cicero, Manlius are good burbs of the city.
Property taxes are high, so is electric. But the cost of housing is low, low! So I think that overall, Syracuse is one of the nicer areas to make a move to in NY. If you like snow...all the better.
My relatives go up there all the time to the casinos and have a blast.
Good hospitals up there too! And plenty of businesses.
And there is a ton of lakes up there, Ithaca is maybe just shy of a two hour drive south if you are interested. Many people like Ithaca for the college town atmosphere - I could take it or leave it.

Psshhh.... Sryacuse's dinosaur BBQ...... a total rip off of the ORIGINAL Dinosaur BBQ in downtown Rochester. What next? Is syracuse going to build an Anchor Bar too so they can claim Buffalo Wings are Syracuse food too? lol.
I am assuming you are refering to Laguardia or JFK???
I-87N to I-84W to I-81N.
Better yet - fly right into Hancock int airport. Much much less hassle - I cannot even begin to tell you what I would pay to not have to deal with NYC area driving. It is a looong haul too, at least 6 hours from NYC.
