I have a gateway tablet pc which i bought in order to assist with real estate contracts and being able to bring them and get them signed in the field. My contracts are usually in PDF format, sometimes in Word but I find I can't use the pc to sign . Can anyone suggest a program that will allow me to sign PDF and Word docs on the tablet?

Thanks.

PDF - You can't without buying Adobe Acrobat = $300. Nature of the beast.

Word - you should be ale to with a text box. But: I am not familiar with tablet PC's so I may not be the one to answer this question.

As far as I know, you can't free-form draw on a PDF. We have the full version of Acrobat and we use signatures as stamps, but I don't think it'd do what you want.

If the Word solution doesn't work, your best bet is probably some sort of print-to-image solution, and then sign in an image manipulation app. Maybe Illustrator?

Or use paper...

BTW - you should also check on whether or not a digital/digitized signature is legally binding. AFAIK, this is still a pretty untested area. Could be wrong, though. Just make sure - better to be safe than sorry.

A portable printer and a ballpoint pen would solve your problem without the potential digital signature issue.

Are you looking for something like this?

Signature software

I've used tablet PCs before. I thought they had handwriting recognition built in, at least with Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
